Homemade Sticky Bun Recipe

by Carey on January 26, 2012 · 0 comments

My little lady turned 3 on Monday, which resulted in my Mom flying in from California for the weekend. On Monday we made Marilyn a birthday breakfast including these absolutely delicious Sticky Buns from scratch.

My Mom loves to cook as much as I do, so I was very happy that she brought this recipe with.

You see, I have a seriously weakness for those Cinnamon Rolls that come in a tube from the grocery store, but my Mom is not a fan. So she whipped these up, and I loved them!

They took a little bit longer then my Tube-rolls, but it was worth the wait. And, after, I got to clean out my oven, joy, from all the butter and cinnamon that spilled over. So, note to self, use a cookie sheet under the muffin tin.

Ok, on to the recipe.

Ingredients:

1 package of Puff Pastry

Brown Sugar

Butter

Cinnamon

Raisins, Cranberries, Nuts, or what ever else you want to put inside

Start by mixing 1 stick of softened butter and 1/2 cup of brown sugar in a bowl. Then divide it evenly into muffin tins.

Next unroll your semi-thawed puff pastry sheets and spread it with brown sugar. Do this to both of the sheets of pastry.

Next add cinnamon and dried fruit. We added raisins and cranberries that my Mom conveniently brought in her suitcase from Trader Joe’s. Also, if you want to add nuts, you can put them here, or directly into the muffin tins on top of the butter.

Now just roll it up tightly, and…

…cut each piece into 6 even slices, and….

…place them on top of your butter. Cook them at 400 degrees for about 20-25 minutes.

Yum!

I absolutely loved these. They were flaky, buttery, and felt to be much healthier then my can version.

Birthday girl liked them very much, with her bacon and eggs.

Primary Colors – Spring 2012

by Carey on January 25, 2012 · 0 comments

Let me preface this post by saying, I really do love pink. I do. How could you not? It looks beautiful on baby girls. But, sometimes there is room for colors other then pink on girls.

Call it Modern, or Vintage, or Retro, or just plain ol’  Clean lines, Primary colors- so-belong-on babies.  I tried to make a little display on Saturday with some fun Primary colors, and this is what I came up with. I like it.

Red Tutu- Our own. Super easy to make, I know you all know how. But one day soon, I hope to share some tutu making tricks that I have learned along the way.

Yellow Lace Diaper Cover

Yellow Ballerina Trumpette Socks

Green and White Polka Dot Babylegs

Vintage Burpies- Our own.

Red Fluffy Mud Pie Socks

Monkey Ruffled Crawler

Elephant All in One Dress

Working to get all of this stuff posted online, which as you all know is my weak point. As soon as it’s done I will post it. And most things we have been getting shipped out in 24-48 hours.

Image courtsey of google.

I was so excited to wake up this morning and see if Wikipedia and Google were really going to do something awesome to show that they are against SOPA. And they did not dissapoint. Wikipedia is blacked out for 24 hours and Google did the above with their logo.

Here is a good article to show you why SOPA is a bad idea.

I can not believe that our US Chamber of Commerce and a Texas Republican would think this is a good idea. Censorship in any form is a very scary thing, and furthermore why in the world does the US government think we have the money to fight this battle.

I just read an absolutely awesome post about this from Pot Pie Girl that makes it easy to understand why this is a bad idea.

Here is an excerpt from her post.

It really seems to come down to the ones who are being pirated are in support and the ones that might be held accountable and liable for said piracy are opposed.

Meanwhile, the actual offender is not even mentioned.

Suffering from Piracy? Your line is to the Left marked “Supporters”.

Going to Be Held Accountable for Policing SOPA? Your line is to the right marked “Opposition”.

Are you the one DOING the piracy? You’re free to go. We’re not gonna bother with you – your pockets aren’t deep enough.

Seriously????

Here is some information from the company regarding the features of this car seat.

“Handling children from about 6 months old up to 65 pounds (rear-facing up to 45 pounds).. Featuring the company’s signature rigid latch system (it easily connects to the LATCH hooks in cars without having to fumble to tighten it), the stain-resistant Crypton fabric, and a narrow design that will allow for three seats in a backseat greater than 51 inches, the seat seems to have it all. Most interesting is an antirebound bar (used when the seat is rear-facing) to prevent the seat from rolling up during a collision.”

A modern twist on an old classic rocking horse, but it is a sheep. This cozy little rocker is handmade and made of the best quality. It is made of Baltic Burch plywood. It is a heirloom that your child can pass on to their own children. I simply love this rocker.
